The President’s Message from Marianne

JacksonMarianneWinter Continues……

November winds and the December/January snows are making it difficult to dance. We need to work hard to communicate with each other to let us know when changes need to be made to our dance schedules.

We have an opportunity to make our Website a very viable means of communication. The search has been on for club webmasters for each club to better update their individual web pages. Year schedules, Officer information, Dance location and pictures. Consult with your club members about making your page appealing to onlookers. We possibly get traffic from all over the world and especially now with a National Convention coming back to Cincinnati in 2017.

Excitement is building for our state convention this coming May. We need everyone to help spread the news – The Good News. Dancing in the greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area is fun – invite someone you do not know to join you in a square.

It is time for the 3rd Annual Presidential Promenade. The Greater Cincinnati Callers and Teachers Association will hold their dance at The Historic Hayloft Barn in Winton Woods on Sunday, February 16, 2014. Come hear area callers, cuers and line dance leaders and dance with dancers from all over the area.

“When you wish upon a Star” is the dangle theme for this years dances. Put on your thinking caps and come up with some fun ideas for your club dance — Disney, Stars & Constellations, Movie Stars, Sports Stars, Music Stars and more could be potential ideas. Let us see how much fun we can have.

The Queen City Express will be returning for the 3rd year – help in the planning. Please forward your ideas to me.

Happy Dancing,

Marianne C. Jackson, President
The Southwestern Ohio/Northern Kentucky Square Dancers Federation
